The Torfin – Privacy Policy

At The Torfin, we want you to know that we will never sell, rent or trade email lists or your information with other companies & businesses for marketing purposes. We are committed to maintaining our customers trust whilst visiting our website. In the following privacy policy we’ve provided detailed information on when & why we collect your personal information, how we intent to use it & how we keep it secure.

We use cookies and related technologies to understand and improve our systems and your experience, including personalising content, adverts and social media features.

A cookie is a small text file comprised of numbers and letters that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables our website to remember your actions and preferences over a period of time, which helps us provide the best user experience to you on our sites. Cookies also make our websites work appropriately.

Other similar tracking technologies are also used to achieve the same function. Pixels are used to record information such as the time, location and operating system of the device a user has used to click through to our website from an email or advert. Browser or device fingerprinting collects information about a browser or device used to access our website to recognise this on future visits.

When you use The Torfin’s free Wi-Fi we may collect data about:

  1. a) your device;
  2. b) the volume of data which you use;
  3. c) the websites and applications which you access; and
  4. d) your usage by access time, frequency and location.

When making an online booking through our ResDiary system, we ask if you would like to allow us access to your personal information. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to tell you about stuff you’ve asked us to tell you about; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; to check our records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.

We would use a third-party provider, like MailChimp, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing [email protected]

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. Email your request to our data protection officer Linsey Lindley at [email protected]

This Privacy Policy was reviewed March 2024 & will be reviewed yearly if changes are required.
